If you have a late flight when you leave, they are able to offer a luggage store so that you can make the most of your last day. There are many advantages to having your own place rather than a hotel - meals when you wish, lie-ins, fill your fridge with beers and wine and if self-catering puts you off, then there is a cafe, bar, restaurant a couple of steps in every direction plus lots of take-home options close by too - some great pizzerias close by to the studio.

If you don't mind the small inconvenience of converting a sofabed each day then my studio is a great little base from which to explore Nice and no need for a car and offers very good value. It has the small luxuries that count - air-conditioning, life, quiet balcony, washing machine, dishwasher and large TV with English channel package. There's even a Nespresso machine for Nespresso fans (bring your own capsules or buy from the store in Place Massena) as well as a basic cafetiere. Close to the tram at Garibaldi and the Monaco 100 bus from the port plus many local buses and the local train line from Riquier is only a 10-minute walk away.

It's step away from the newly regenerated Place du Pin heading to Place Garibaldi or a pleasant stroll around the Port to the Promenade des Anglais and the beaches or cut through Passage Segaurane into the cool narrow warren of the old town and down to the Cours Saleya market.

From the airport, it's 6 euros to take the 98 express bus to the Promenade des Arts, then a 10-minute walk or a taxi from the airport for around 50 euros.
